Our Mission and What It Will Take to Make It Happen
The Community Action Committee was formed to strengthen the voice of residents in Cahokia Heights, East St. Louis, and communities throughout St. Clair County. Our mission is to bring transparency, accountability, and informed civic engagement to the decisions that shape our region. We focus on issues that directly affect families, including housing affordability, fair housing protections, education accountability, economic development, infrastructure oversight, and responsible local leadership.
“Our work begins with information. Too often major decisions are made while residents remain unaware of the policies, developments, and financial decisions that affect their daily lives. The Community Action Committee exists to change that. We are committed to gathering facts, sharing information with the public, monitoring major developments such as housing trends and large public projects, and ensuring that residents understand both the opportunities and the challenges facing our communities.”
But information alone is not enough. Real progress requires participation and leadership from the community itself. That is why we are building a network of citizens, volunteers, and community leaders who are ready to stay informed, attend meetings, ask questions, and help guide responsible growth throughout Cahokia Heights, East St. Louis, and the greater St. Clair County region.
This effort will require community participation, volunteer leadership, information sharing, and a commitment to civic engagement. When residents stand together, stay informed, and participate in the decisions that affect their neighborhoods, communities become stronger, more transparent, and better prepared for the future.
The Community Action Committee is committed to that future, and we invite those who believe in transparency, fairness, and opportunity to help move this work forward.
